Week of 5/13 This week we will finish going over all of the relevant key points in the textbook from units 8A, 8B, 9A and 9B. This includes direct and indirect object pronouns, the preterite form of "er" and "ir" verbs, the preterite form of the verb "ir", the personal "a", the present tense of the verb "decir" and the difference between the verbs "saber" and "conocer". Week of 5/6 This week we will start Unit 7B and go through all of the key points of this unit. Week of 4/29 This week we will start off with "test prep" for our Quiz on Tuesday. The rest of the week we will be finishing writing our Oscar Project dialogues. These scripts need to be approved by me ASAP so you can all start filming. Make sure your group meets with me by this Friday, May 3rd! Oscar movies are due Tuesday, May 28th! Week of 4/22 This week we have the State Math exam, so again I will not be seeing all of my classes everyday. Students will begin working on their Oscar dialogues this week, as well as continuing with speaking activities. Week of 4/15 This week we have the State ELA exam, so I will not be seeing all of my classes everyday. For those classes that I will see, we will be spending time reviewing the concepts from 7A and doing practice speaking activities for the Proficiency Exam. Week of 4/8 This week we will finish going over the 2010 Proficiency Exam and start a running list of vocabulary words that we encounter in our practice tests. We will then continue with Unit 7A! Week of 4/3 Week of 3/18 This week we are finishing up our 2nd Dialogue Project performances. Then we will start Unit 7A before Spring Break! Week of 3/11 This week we start off with our quiz on Unit 6B. We will then start our 2nd Dialogue Projects! We will take the time to write in class for 3-4 days and then perform. Week of 3/4 This week we will be wrapping up the Unit 6B. We will continue to practice the command form and the present progressive form. While the majority of students are in Washington, D.C. for the senior trip, I will conduct conferences with the students that remain in school. Week of 2/25 This week we are continuing our work in Unit 6B. We are focusing on the command form and the present progressive form, all centered around the house and different chores in the various rooms in the house. Week of 2/20 This short week we will start Unit 6B, which focuses on the house and home. Week of 2/11 This is Respect For All week! We have our quiz on 6A, and then we will be doing various lessons focusing on Respect For All. We will also do a special lesson for Valentine's Day! Then we will start our new unit, 6B. Week of 2/4 This week will are still working on unit 6A, focusing on the irregular verbs "dormir" and "poder". Week of 1/28 This week we will continue working on unit 6A, specifically on prepositions of place and superlatives. Week of 1/22 This week we will start unit 6A which is about the bedroom and bedroom objects. We will also review colors and prepositions of place. Week of 1/14 This week we have a quiz and will be starting our Family/Restaurant project! We will also do a few cultural lessons before we start unit 6A. Week of 1/7 This week we will be finishing up with Unit 5B! Week of 1/2 This week we will be continuing with Unit 5B! Be sure to review your vocab so you are ready! Week of 12/17 This week we will be finishing up our Conferences and starting Unit 5B. Week of 12/10 This week we have our cumulative exam, so we will be reviewing the important topics that we have covered this year in preparation for that. We will also continue with our conferencing. If time allows, we will begin 5B! Week of 12/3 This week we are finishing writing and editing our scripts for our Dialogue Project and we will perform them! I am so excited to see each group's performance! Be sure to practice, and remember it is NOT necessary to memorize your lines. Week of 11/26 This week we will discuss the different ways to express possession and learn about possessive adjectives. We will also do a reading comprehension activity that talks about a "quinceanera" and we will compare this celebration to celebrations in our culture. We will spend a day updating our portfolios and writing our SMARTgoals for MP2; we will also change our seats so we have new partners to work with. Lastly we will start our first Dialogue Project of the year! This is the beginning of our Oscar journey! Week of 11/19 This is a short week and we also have a half-day! We will do "test prep" on Monday to prepare for our quiz on Wednesday. Tuesday we will continue with our new unit, 5A. Wednesday is our quiz on ser and estar! Week of 11/13 This week we will review "tener" and "ir" before starting Unit 5A from the Realidades textbook. This unit focuses on the family, descriptive adjectives and celebrations. We will slowly continue with the conferences as the Marking Period progresses. Week of 11/5 This week we will first share our experiences from Hurricane Sandy and see if any of our classmates need help. We will then start our first conferences of the year; these conferences will count as a quiz grade for the 2nd Marking Period. I will also be checking notebooks, which will count as a quiz grade for the 1st Marking Period. We will continue our work on "ser" and "estar" and finish up the week reviewing the verb "tener". Week of 10/22 This week we are starting off with our Quiz. Then we will review the irregular verbs ser and estar, as well as ir. We will also continue going over descriptive adjectives. Week of 10/15 This week we are finishing our review of time. Then we will go over regular verb conjugations of ar/er/ir verbs. We will write our first dialogues using these verb conjugations as well as greetings and "leavings". Thursday we will do "test prep" because our quiz is Friday! Week of 10/9 This week we are starting off with a quiz of everything we have studied thus far, which is really all a review of 7th grade material. We will then continue our review with body parts, time and conjugating regular ar/er/ir verbs. Week of 10/1 This week we are continuing are review of 7th grade material: "gustar", the alphabet, colors, numbers, the calendar and basic conjugations. Students should review their notes every night, especially the "Para Empezar" chapter from the textbook. Week of 9/24 This week we will be presenting our Hispanic Heritage Biography Projects to the class. We will then start our 7th grade review, including "gustar", the alphabet, colors, numbers and the calendar. Week of 9/19 This week we will be doing several scaffolding activities to support the students' work on their Hispanic Heritage biography projects. They will receive 2-3 organizers to help them organize their thoughts and materials. We will also be setting up our portfolios and previewing photos from previous Dialogue projects, Oscar ceremonies and hopefully previewing some Spanish Oscar winning movies! Week of 9/10 This week we will be setting up our notebooks and dictionaries, creating a rubric to use this year, writing our SMART goals for MP1, taking the beginning of year assessment, getting our textbooks, discussing why it is important to learn Spanish, taking a Multiple Intelligence survey and learning about Hispanic Heritage month. Week of 9/6 Welcome back to school! This week (2 days) we will be reviewing all of the procedures and rules of Spanish class, going over supplies needed and getting to know each other. I know we will have a wonderful year!! :) |
